Leadership Journey

A career built on range, responsibility, and results.

The Work Behind the Title

In 2014, I was a teller at Scotiabank Guyana, learning the discipline of accuracy, compliance, and client trust. In 2025, I became Liaison Director at AGM Inc., leading ESG strategy, government engagement, and regulatory compliance for one of Guyana's largest mining operations. What connects these points is not a career plan — it is a consistent way of working.

Banking taught me that trust is earned one accurate transaction, one clear explanation, and one difficult conversation at a time. Digital strategy at Toucan Ltd. taught me that communication is performance: understand what people need, manage expectations across disciplines, and deliver measurable results under pressure. Mining brought those lessons into a complex operating environment shaped by regulation, sustainability, technical execution, public policy, and national development. Five years and five promotions later, I serve in the Social Responsibility Department, Corporate and Social, Compliance and Government Relations function, coordinating with senior management, public institutions, regulators, financial organisations, technical departments, contractors, and communities.

Leadership Philosophy

I have never held a leadership title that I did not first earn by doing the work. My understanding of leadership is not drawn from frameworks or models — it is drawn from sitting across tables from ministers, regulators, mine managers, community leaders, and executive teams, and learning what makes those conversations productive or pointless.

Leadership in my context means holding the space between competing priorities — business objectives and regulatory obligations, operational urgency and stakeholder patience, corporate strategy and national interest. That position requires more than authority. It requires preparation, precision, institutional respect, and the willingness to own outcomes you cannot control alone.

Leadership Principles

  1. Prepare Before EngagingStrong engagement begins with accurate information and a clear objective.
  2. Communicate With PrecisionComplex issues require simple, accurate, and responsible communication.
  3. Respect InstitutionsTrust grows when organisations understand and respect formal processes.
  4. Take OwnershipLeadership means accepting responsibility for progress, delays, and results.
  5. Think Beyond the Immediate IssueEvery decision affects relationships, reputation, risk, and future cooperation.

My Approach

1

Listen First

Understand the issue, the stakeholders, and the wider operating context.

2

Establish Clarity

Define the objective, responsibilities, risks, and expected outcome.

3

Coordinate Action

Bring the right people together and maintain disciplined follow-up.

4

Protect Trust

Communicate accurately, act responsibly, and respect institutional processes.

5

Deliver Results

Move priority matters from discussion to completion.
